Composite Design Engineer

Rate: £50 - £65 Ltd (Outside IR35)

Location: Silverstone
Contract: 12-Month Rolling
Location: On-site | Hybrid depending on project phase

We’re seeking an experienced Composite Design Engineer to support the chassis and bodywork programmes for the upcoming Formula 1 season. This is a high-impact role at the heart of their technical team, contributing directly to the performance, safety, and competitiveness of their race car.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop composite components for F1 chassis, bodywork, and structural assemblies, from initial concept through to manufacturing release.

  • Create detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials in line with team standards.

  • Collaborate with aerodynamicists, structural engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet performance, weight, stiffness, and safety targets.

  • Optimise designs for manufacturability, cost, and lead time without compromising performance.

  • Participate in design reviews, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support build, fit, and test phases, resolving design/manufacturing issues in a fast-paced environment.

    Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Composite Design Engineer in Formula 1, motorsport, aerospace, or high-performance engineering.

  • Strong proficiency in Siemens NX (or equivalent CAD system) for complex surfacing and assemblies.

  • In-depth knowledge of composite materials, lay-up techniques, tooling design, and structural principles.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a high-pressure, performance-driven environment.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
