Reports To: Group Leader – Mechanical Design

Role Overview:

My client is seeking a talented and passionate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Mechanical Design department, focusing on the design and development of composite brake drums and composite suspension legs.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the performance and innovation of the Formula 1 car, working within a highly skilled team at the cutting edge of motorsport engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of composite brake drums and suspension leg components to meet structural, aerodynamic, and regulatory performance targets

  • Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using NX and Teamcenter

  • Collaborate closely with aerodynamics, vehicle performance, stress, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of designs

  • Support projects from concept through to track introduction, including involvement in testing and validation

  • Apply materials knowledge to optimise lightweight, high-performance structures within the ruleset

  • Contribute to design reviews and ensure compliance with FIA regulations and internal quality standards

    Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Motorsport Engineering (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong 3D CAD skills – ideally Siemens NX and Teamcenter

  • Proven experience designing composite components in high-performance motorsport or automotive environments

  • Deep understanding of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and design for performance and reliability

  • Experience in designing suspension systems and/or brake assemblies is highly desirable
