Working Pattern: Full time

Rolls-Royce are currently developing manufacturing methods, processes and materials for their composite fan systems. We are currently going through an exciting phase of growth as we deliver composite components and manufacturing programmes across a range of products for Civil Aerospace and Defence divisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to work as part of our Engineering, Technology and Safety business. This work will involve the development of manufacturing drawings and corresponding implementation of procedures/instructions to plan and create full value streams and methods for a range of new composite components that will be introduced to the CTF. The role will be based on the Filton site and involve visits to our offsite facility, working closely with other parts of the business including Rolls-Royce Derby, external suppliers and the National Composites Centre (NCC).

This role will give the chosen applicant an opportunity to develop within Rolls-Royce manufacturing function and enable them to influence the creation and delivery of the next generation composite fan system. The successful candidate will manage packages of work and be responsible for delivering results across a cross-functional team from Design Engineers, Technical specialist through to Operations and Quality.

What you will be doing

This role will require an individual who is able to integrate with a team of highly capable engineers focussed on the delivery of 'state of the art' technology. With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:
Develop and deliver manufacturing drawings and implement corresponding manufacturing instructions for a variety of processes for the latest fan systems providing a capable method to the Operation Team in the facility. Ensure the manufacturing design meet our customer's requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Lead time. Develop the technical package for the components within our digital toolset and systems, including CAPP method creation, BoM, MES and data capture system. Identify opportunities for new or improved systems and tools for future manufacturing requirements and sharing best practice across the ME community.Develop processes to simplify the use of digital tools to improve our manufacturing operations.

To be successful in this role you will need to:
Engineering or relevant discipline degree, HND or HNC with Manufacturing Engineering experience.Experience in using PPAP within APQP framework to ensure products meet customer requirements and quality standards.Experience in CAD modelling within Siemens NX and the Siemens Teamcenter environment. Experience in method planning/creation through use of VSM (Value Stream Mapping) and PFD (Process Flow Diagrams).Experience with Siemens MES and Teamcenter's digital manufacturing toolsets include method generations and data capture.Understanding of the manufacturing engineering toolset to improve processes in our route to zero defects.Understanding of the following manufacturing processes; composite manufacture, conventional machining, geometric inspection and visual inspection.Understanding of Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).Familiar with RR design methods and the creation of model-based definition.
