Are you an experienced electron microscopist ready to take your technical knowledge into a commercial setting? Or perhaps you’re already in technical sales and looking for a new challenge with a growing, well-respected scientific instrumentation distributor?

We’re working with a leading supplier of high-end scientific equipment across the UK and Ireland who are looking to appoint a Product Manager for their Electron Microscopy portfolio.

This is a national role offering the chance to represent cutting-edge SEM technology, work closely with researchers and engineers across multiple sectors, and directly influence business growth.

The Role

You’ll take full responsibility for managing and growing the Electron Microscopy product line in the UK and Ireland. That includes:

  • Developing and executing a clear sales plan to meet and exceed targets

  • Building strong relationships with key academic, industrial and research customers

  • Carrying out product demonstrations and supporting events such as workshops and roadshows

  • Providing technical expertise and insight to customers and internal teams

  • Liaising closely with international suppliers to share market feedback and opportunities

You’ll report directly to the Sales Director and collaborate closely with technical and marketing colleagues. The role involves regular UK travel and occasional overseas training with manufacturers.

    About You

You’ll bring a strong mix of technical know-how and commercial curiosity, ideally with:

  • A degree (or higher) in Materials Science, Physics, or a related discipline

  • Previous sales or product management experience within microscopy or scientific instrumentation

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A confident, proactive approach with the ability to work independently

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Applications from Scientists with at least 3 years electron microscopy experience looking for a career in scientific sales will also be considered.

This is a superb opportunity to join a stable, people-focused business with a strong reputation in the UK scientific market.

Where to Advertise Materials Science Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise materials science jobs UK in 2026: specialist boards, academic channels and societies that reach physicists, chemists and metallurgists. The candidate pool spans physicists, chemists, metallurgists, ceramicists, polymer scientists and computational materials researchers — a highly multidisciplinary community with distinct professional identities, academic networks and job search behaviours. The strongest candidates are typically embedded in university research groups, national laboratories, government-funded programmes or deep tech R&D teams, and move between roles through specialist academic channels, professional societies and sector-specific networks rather than mainstream job boards. This guide, published by MaterialsScienceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise materials science roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
