Tata steel is seeking a Process Technologist to join their Colors team. Colors at Shotton works is an internationally recognised business that develop and manufacture pre finished steel products and have done for over 50 years. Products include roof and wall cladding, bake-ware, domestic appliances and bespoke products.

Role:Process Technologist

Location:Tata Steel, Shotton Works, Shotton Records Centre, Deeside CH5 2NH

Shifts:Mon-Fri 08:00-16:00

Salary:£30,000-£40,000 per annum (based on experience)

Start:ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment, which does include a Drug and Alcohol test

Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical expertise to the manufacturing unit in relation to processes
  • Working alongside the Process Manager and Electrical/Mechanical Engineers to ensure strong product quality
  • Holding process ownership of quality improvement
  • Reaching out to customers and resolving any issues/investigating any concerns through to resolution
  • Providing expertise and feedback to stakeholders in relation to processes
  • Analysing and identifying sources of process variability
  • Assisting in implementation once potential solutions identified
  • Adhering to UK Health and Safety legislation at all times
  • Being part of other continuous improvement initiatives

Essential requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence (due to the nature of the works)
  • Degree educated in materials science/engineering or science related discipline
  • Ability to form a strong knowledge base of processes, products, quality and inspection
  • Previous experience using problem solving techniques such as six sigma or Lean green belt
  • Good IT literacy especially with MS Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Confidence liaising with stakeholders of all level
  • An excellent knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
