Senior Cabin Interior Design Engineer, China.

Our Aerospace client based in Shanghai, require an experienced Senior Cabin Interior Design Engineer with several years experience in  Civil  Passenger Aircraft Interior Design. In particular the design of Overhead lockers and Cabin Crew Rest Compartment.

The selected candidate that joins them, will be  Designing, Assisting, Advising and Training the local team to successfully design these aspect of an Aircraft's Interior on a new wide body aircraft program. Candidates must be willing to live and work in Shanghai for 1-3 years initially. This is a great opportunity to live and work in a vibrant city and have time to see and experience the culture, history etc.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Cabin Interior Design Engineer to support the detailed 3D design, modelling, and documentation of cabin interior components for a new Civil Passenger Wide Body Aircraft program. This position involves using CATIA V5/V6 to develop design solutions that meet structural, functional, ergonomic, and aesthetic requirements. The role requires strong aerospace interior experience and solid proficiency in CATIA.

Key Responsibilities:
Perform 3D modelling and 2D drafting of cabin interior components.
Ensure that designs meet structural requirements, weight targets, manufacturability, and installation feasibility.
Apply knowledge of aircraft interior materials, composites and layout constraints.
Collaborate with stress, manufacturing, and industrial design teams to iterate on optimized solutions.
Participate in design reviews, support drawing release and change management activities.
Maintain documentation, BOMs, and configuration files according to program standards.  Required Skills & Experience:
Master’s degree or above in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in aircraft interior component design using CATIA.
Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 (especially GSD, Part Design, Assembly Design, and Drafting modules).
Strong understanding of aerospace interior design standards, CS/FAR 25 compliance  and safety requirements.
Experience with commercial aircraft cabin development, ideally wide-body or long-range programs.
Good command of English for technical communication - Mandarin language skills are a plus, but not necessary.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a multi-disciplinary team
