A leading engineering and technology company in the offshore renewables sector is seeking an experienced Electro-Thermal Analysis Specialist to join its Research & Development team. This role focuses on the development and optimisation of MV/HV submarine cable systems and hybrid power transmission products for floating offshore wind applications.

You’ll be part of a specialist R&D function responsible for advancing cable technologies and supporting product innovation. The team provides technical expertise across electrical engineering, materials science, and cable system design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to R&D projects focused on electro-thermal analysis of MV/HV cable systems.

  • Develop and maintain cable rating methodologies and simulation tools.

  • Conduct electromagnetic and thermal simulations using industry-standard software.

  • Provide technical support across the product lifecycle, including risk assessments and client specification reviews.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal standards and documentation.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive innovation and ensure technical excellence.

    Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.

  • Strong background in electromagnetic and thermal analysis for high-voltage cable systems.

  • Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB).

  • In-depth knowledge of submarine cable design, construction, and relevant industry standards (IEC, CIGRE).

  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
