JMC Aviation are working with a component repair company based in Shoeburyness, Essex, looking to recruit a new 5 Axis Machine Operator to join their team.

This client specialises in in aviation component failure analysis, reliability improvement, and the production of cost-effective, high-performance parts. Working closely with MROs and operators, they review, research, test, and develop tailored solutions to address reliability, cost, and supply chain challenges.

This is a Permanent Position, working Monday to Friday – 8.00am to 4.00pm

    The Role

    This new role will involve setting up from scratch a brand-new workshop based in Shoeburyness. The successful candidate will need to come into the business as a self-starter, planning, designing the workshop requirements, identifying and listing all the equipment requirements. Setting up the machinery and tooling to maximise production. They will then effectively run the workshop, producing engine mounts etc to specification. This will involve sourcing the necessary machines to deliver the work for our airline customers.

    Main Duties will include:

  • CNC Programming & Operation: Set, program, and operate SCM 5 Axis CNC machines. machine.

  • Quality Control: Ensure your work meets the highest standards by performing quality checks on your own output.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machine issues, adjusting offsets and coordinates as needed to ensure smooth operation.

  • Reading Technical Drawings: Ability to read and understand complex technical drawings to ensure accurate production.

  • Working to agreed deadlines to ensure we deliver works on time and to standard

  • Able to work with materials including Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Nylons and ABS

  • Able to manual mill and complete lathe work

  • Understand material and working processes

  • They will work with our internal design team to develop innovative designs and production solutions

    Skills and Experience:

  • The successful candidate will have over twenty years’ experience in machine shops

  • CNC Programming: Must have comprehensive experience in CNC programming, with a focus on aviation parts.

  • Machine Knowledge: Experience with SCM or similar CNC machines is highly desirable. You must be able to quickly adapt to new machinery.

  • Technical Drawings: Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and translate them into precise machine instructions.

  • Proactive Team Player: You should be a motivated, flexible team player with a "can-do" attitude.

  • Able to problem solve and find innovative manufacturing solutions
