Mechanical Engineer
Location: Heywood, Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Office-based, standard business hours with occasional site visits
Reporting To: Engineering Manager
About the Role
Our client is seeking aMechanical Engineerto join their engineering team in Heywood. This is an excellent opportunity for either a Graduate Mechanical Engineer or an experienced engineer looking to develop their career within a specialist engineering business.
The successful candidate will support the design, development and delivery of mechanical engineering projects, working closely with internal teams, suppliers and customers from concept through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical designs, technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Assist with the design and development of engineered mechanical equipment and systems.
- Prepare engineering calculations, equipment specifications and material selections.
- Support project delivery from concept through to installation and commissioning.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure project requirements are achieved.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and installation teams.
- Participate in design reviews, testing activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure engineering solutions comply with relevant quality, safety and environmental standards.
- Attend occasional site visits to support project activities and customer requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and practical problem-solving ability.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Good communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
Desirable
- Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Graduate engineers with relevant placement, internship or industrial experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering, utilities or a related technical environment.
- Knowledge of pumps, rotating equipment or hydraulic systems would be advantageous.
