Planet Recruitment are delighted to be working with an innovative and well-established engineering manufacturer based in West Oxfordshire who are looking to recruit aMechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on bothnew product development and the continuous improvement of existing products, playing a key role in research and development projects while helping to reduce product development timescales.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and developing new mechanical products and improving existing designs.
• Building and testing prototypes throughout the development process.
• Recording and analysing test results, providing recommendations and next steps.
• Producing and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Working collaboratively with engineers and other departments to deliver projects on time.
• Supporting research and development activities from concept through to production.
• Contributing ideas to improve product performance, manufacturability and efficiency.
• Undertaking any other reasonable engineering duties as required.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a design or product development environment.
• Experience working on research and development projects (desirable).
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with prototype assembly and product testing.
• Strong organisational, project management and communication skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing innovative engineering solutions.
