Job Overview: Our client, an established manufacturer of engineered composite materials we are looking for a Manual Lathe Operator to join their precision engineering team.

Remit:

  • As a Manual Lathe Operator you will be responsible for operating manual lathes to machine high-precision components in accordance with engineering drawings and tolerances.

  • This is an opportunity to secure a days role on a permanent basis however a contractor will also be considered for this position.

    Role:

  • Setup and operate Hylingensteadi manual lathes to machine composite components.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and job specifications.

  • Monitor tooling condition and make required adjustments.

  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools.

  • 5Maintain daily production and quality records.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures.

  • Carry out routine maintenance and report mechanical faults.

    Experience:

  • Previous experience with manual lathes (Hylingensteadi or equivalent).

  • Engineering or machine apprenticeship would be highly desirable

  • Solid understanding of turning operations, materials, and cutting speeds.

  • Ability to work from detailed technical drawings.

  • Competence with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.

  • Experience with multiple manual machine types (mills, grinders) – Desirable

  • Knowledge of workshop mathematics and tolerancing systems – Desirable

  • Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.

  • Reliability, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
