We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for two Permanent Structure Inspectors to join our dynamic SBIM team at Severn Bridge Maintenance Unit (BS354BD - On-site).

In this role, you will play an important part in ensuring annual inspection programme and all inspection reporting is completed in accordance with all relevant technical standards within the relevant specialism / discipline. Also, the delivery of all the specified inspections and reports on time, within budget and to the quality required.

What You'll Do:
Implement the contractual inspection requirements to fully meet the client specification in accordance with relevant standards and programme.
Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff.
Assist the bridge manager in developing training programmes for junior members of staff.
Carry out site visits and surveys.
Prepare and check feasibility studies, inspection, assessment and technical reports and other written documents in an appropriate format ensuring compliance with Amey procedures.
Comply with the requirements of the Amey Integrated Management System including Health & Safety, Environmental and all other appropriate regulations.
Engage in client and third party liaison.
Support the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts, when required.
Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment.
Take part in the on-call rota to cover emergencies outside of normal working hours as required by operational circumstances.
Work within a team to deliver inspection works.
Coach and mentor apprentices and take an active role in their development across the contract.
Flexibility in working across three different structures.
Carries out visual inspections of structures.
Performs basic non-destructive inspection techniques.
Records and captures all plant, labour and material using a tablet-based system. Why Join Us?

Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and designs.
Good working knowledge of metals and metallurgy, other materials including concrete.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools.
Hold a full UK driving licence Desirable:
Desirable HNC / HND in Civil or Mechanical Engineering;
Completed or Working towards Bridge Inspection Certification Scheme (BICS)
Certification Scheme for Personnel - Weld Inspector (CSWIP3.1 - Weld Inspector or 3.2 - Senior Weld Inspector).
PCN Level 2 Dye Penetrant Testing.
PCN Level 2 Magnetic Particle Investigation.
IPAF 1A Static Boom desirable but not essential.
