Senior Operational Buyer

Location: Hybrid - Bristol, United Kingdom

Salary: Up to £51,000 plus annual bonus scheme

JOB SPECIFICATION

Our client is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of advanced vacuum products, exhaust management systems, and related services. Their innovative solutions support critical manufacturing processes across semiconductors, displays, LEDs, solar cells, and various industrial applications including power, glass, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and scientific R&D. As a Senior Operational Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in securing a reliable supply of raw materials to support production demands and align with operational schedules. You'll contribute to building robust buying capabilities through supplier management, process enhancements, and team development, all while reporting to the Supply Chain Team Leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the procurement of raw materials to ensure a consistent supply that aligns with production schedules.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating terms, monitoring performance, and ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.

  • Collaborate with planning, production, and commercial teams to align purchasing activities with business objectives and strategic goals.

  • Contribute to the development of operational buying processes, including continuous improvement initiatives and system enhancements.

  • Mentor and support junior Buyers, sharing expertise and best practices to foster a resilient and high-performing team.

  • Generate and analyze Supply Chain KPIs to drive improvements in service levels and inventory performance.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with effective verbal and written communication to engage at all levels.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management abilities.

  • Strong analytical skills with a methodical approach to problem-solving.

  • Proven influencing, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, both internally and externally.

  • Flexibility to thrive in a complex, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.

  • Proficiency in Outlook and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.

  • Commercial awareness to balance competing commercial and technical priorities.
