Job Title: Business Unit Accountant
Location: Coventry, UK
Core Hours: 08:00-16:35 (Mon–Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri).
Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent and Hybrid (subject to operational needs)
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per annum (subject to experience)

Now, we’re looking for a Business Unit Accountant to support our Composites and Armour Systems (CAS) division – someone with the skills to translate complex data into commercial insight and the confidence to work closely with stakeholders across our growing operation.



This is more than reporting and reconciliation. You'll be the go-to finance expert embedded in our business unit – partnering with production, purchasing, logistics, engineering and business development teams. It’s about improving efficiency, driving profitability and supporting the ongoing transformation of the finance function into a true strategic enabler.

​What you’ll be doing



As our Business Unit Accountant, you’ll support the CAS division with financial analysis, planning and operational decision-making. You’ll work closely with the Finance Director, Financial Controller and on-site teams to:



Deliver accurate gross margin reporting, labour analysis and materials efficiency metrics

Maintain and monitor standard and current costs for purchased and manufactured goods

*

Support the budgeting and forecasting process for operational and project-based spend

*

Provide financial input for tender submissions and new business quotations

*

Reconcile inventory, manage stock controls and contribute to year-end stock takes

*

Partner with operations and engineering to improve financial decision-making

*

Contribute to internal and external audits and statutory reporting processes

*

Improve reporting tools and develop new insights using Excel, pivots and macros

You’ll need to be flexible and comfortable working to deadlines, with some travel to UK and international stakeholders as required.



We’re looking for someone who’s confident, analytical, and comfortable working cross-functionally. You should also bring:

*

Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)

*

Proven experience in manufacturing or project accounting

*

Strong understanding of margin reporting, cost control and budgeting

*

Solid knowledge of inventory management and operational finance

*

Experience improving financial reporting tools, processes and insights

*

Excellent Excel skills – including pivot tables and basic macros

*

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain finance to non-finance stakeholders
