You’ll support daily operations within the Quality Assurance team, oversee approval of materials and components, manage customer feedback, and contribute to the maintenance of quality systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the QA department, including resolving product quality issues and allocating team resources effectively.

  • Maintain and improve internal quality processes and ensure continued compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

  • Perform visual and dimensional checks on new and modified products, using a range of precision instruments.

  • Conduct colour analysis and support external product inspection requests where necessary.

  • Oversee calibration of gauges and measurement tools, ensuring records are up to date and compliant.

  • Maintain documentation associated with quality systems, including the control of Quality Records.

  • Investigate customer complaints and returns, carry out root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant teams.

  • Collaborate with the Sales and Logistics departments on replacement orders and ensure accurate reporting through RMA systems.

  • Conduct inspections on inbound goods requiring quality verification.

    The Candidate
Previous experience in a quality-focused engineering or manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of measurement tools and techniques

The ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply quality tools effectively.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and internal auditing.

Experience supporting or leading continuous improvement initiatives.

A working understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Exposure to machining processes; knowledge of polymers is advantageous but not essential.

    The Package
Salary: £35,000 - £44,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications).

We operate as an Employment Agency for permanent roles and as an Employment Business for temporary or contract opportunities

Where to Advertise Materials Science Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise materials science jobs UK in 2026: specialist boards, academic channels and societies that reach physicists, chemists and metallurgists. The candidate pool spans physicists, chemists, metallurgists, ceramicists, polymer scientists and computational materials researchers — a highly multidisciplinary community with distinct professional identities, academic networks and job search behaviours. The strongest candidates are typically embedded in university research groups, national laboratories, government-funded programmes or deep tech R&D teams, and move between roles through specialist academic channels, professional societies and sector-specific networks rather than mainstream job boards. This guide, published by MaterialsScienceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise materials science roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
