Paint Prepper

Location: Broadstairs

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7am till 15:30pm

Contract: Temporary

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented and reliable Paint Prepper to join a local manufacturing company. In this role, you’ll prepare a wide range of components for painting and finishing, ensuring every piece meets quality standards before it moves into the paint booth. Your work directly impacts the final look and durability of products, making you a key part of the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials (aluminium, acrylic, steel, plastics, composites) for painting by sanding, cleaning, masking, and priming.

  • Inspect raw and fabricated parts for imperfections, damage, or surface inconsistencies.

  • Mix, label, and organise paints, primers, and coatings according to specifications.

  • Mask off areas using tape, stencils, or templates to ensure clean paint lines.

  • Operate basic workshop tools such as sanders, grinders, and hand tools.

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe prep area.

  • Work closely with painters, fabricators, and production leads to meet project deadlines.

  • Follow company safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and PPE.

  • Assist with minor touch‑ups or finishing tasks as needed.

    Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in paint preparation, automotive refinishing, fabrication, or signage production is preferred but not essential.

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high‑quality work.

  • Ability to follow technical instructions, drawings, and job sheets.

  • Comfortable working with hand tools, sanding equipment, and surface‑prep machinery.

  • Good time‑management skills and the ability to work to deadlines.

  • Physically able to lift materials and stand for extended periods.

  • A proactive, team‑oriented attitude
