Metallurgist

Due to expansion and company investment, a sector leading manufacturer of complex products supplied to the aerospace and defence sectors has a new vacancy for a Metallurgist to join its growing team. Offering excellent career development opportunities and joining at a time of significant company growth, you will play a key role in ensuring products & components meet with customer requirements and candidates are sought with a good understanding of metallurgical testing & analysis within a highly regulated industry (aerospace, automotive, defence, energy, etc).

Key Responsibilities

Work as part of the group engineering team to qualify, approve and specify materials and processes to meet with customer and industry requirements.

Perform metallurgical testing, failure analysis, and evaluations to support production and quality assurance.

Provide technical expertise and guidance on superalloys and processes.

Develop and refine procedures in line with industry best practices.

Lead first article inspection activities relevant to the laboratory.

Support root cause investigations for material and/or process issues.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance material performance and manufacturing efficiency.

Work closely with internal and external suppliers on quality issues.

The Person

A degree (or equivalent) in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or a related field.

Experience in an operational metallurgy role within a highly regulated industry.

Hands-on experience in both destructive and non-destructive testing.

Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and reporting skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
