Experienced Scale Up Chemist required for a rapidly growing speciality chemical manufacturer looking to disrupt the sub-surface industry.

Title: Senior Scale Up Chemist

Location: Hybrid, 1 day a week at Telford site (following initial 6 month period where you will be expected on site 3 days a week)

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 + benefits (dependent upon experience)

Term: Permanent

SRG is working with an independent and rapidly expanding manufacturer of speciality chemicals for industrial processes. As a result of their continuing growth, they are now looking to hire an experienced Senior Scale Up Chemist to join the team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to drive process development and scale up of a bespoke chemical process to produce sustainable, bio-based products in the sub-surface industry.

Role / Description

Leading project to scale up process from lab to pilot scale and then manufacturing scale
Co-ordinating with lab team to understand the upstream and downstream process parameters
Translating these parameters to pilot scale with an external toll manufacturer
Being a point of contact on site for toll manufacturer to troubleshoot issues with scale up (required on site in the North East for two nights a time twice a month)
Identifying and contacting future toll manufacturers in UK & Europe for large scale manufacture of this product and future products currently in the R&D pipeline
Liaising with the Supply Chain Manager to identify alternative chemical suppliers to dual-source materialsRequirements

Recent, proven experience of scaling up synthetic chemical processes from lab to commercial scale
Degree-level qualified (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar
Knowledge of natural modified polymers, solid state extrusion or dry synthesis is advantageous
Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills
Flexibility to travel to toll manufacturer and their West Midlands site regularly
Full, clean UK driving licence
A desire to make a difference and disrupt the chemicals industry
