An exciting role has become available for a Senior Quality Engineer at a leading coatings company. You will be responsible for ensuring that all procedures and processes being fully implemented and continuous improvement opportunities are identified effectively as well as guaranteeing that products manufactured fully achieve customer and company specifications. You will be reporting directly to the QHSE Manager and working closely with the Sales, Supply-Chain, R&D and Operations teams to resolve customer concerns effectively.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with customers' quality and engineering personnel to ensure all internal systems comply with expectations

  • Provide quality support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques

  • Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerance, and performance related issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.

  • Maintain IMDS database and annual submissions and apply appropriate use of statistical techniques

  • Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches and/or modifications to existing products

  • Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyse results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.

  • Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and start-up.

  • Coordinate pre-launch production trial run process monitoring.

  • Maintain Control Plans and FMEA's throughout the life of the part.

  • Lead and facilitate the use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.

  • Plan and conduct product, process and system audits and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented, where necessary.

  • Determine and apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools.

  • Chair Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) reviews and update documents.

  • Support external third-party certification/surveillance audits.

  • Perform all types of internal, supplier and VDA audits as determined by the schedules and specific need or expectation.

  • Responsible for maintaining Quality Management Systems to the requirements of, IATF16949 and ISO9001 certification standard

  • Deputising for the QHSE Manager, when required.

    Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills to balance multiple priorities in a highly motivated team and organisation.

  • Able to engage with customers and suppliers on special projects and/or failure analysis by providing detailed analytical analysis and requisite reports.

  • IT literate, with experience of QMS Software and ERP system integration

  • A data driven, analytical mindset with a passion for the application of problem-solving tools

  • Certified Auditor, with proven auditing experience

  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills to balance multiple priorities

  • Able to engage with customers and suppliers effectively by providing detailed analytical analysis and requisite reports.

  • Five years' experience operating within an ISO9001/IATF16949 certified quality management system & working within a highly regulated Quality Engineering role.

  • Experience in the use of problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Cause and Effect Analysis etc.)

  • Specific skills developing and executing DOEs with strong analytical/SPC background

  • Internal/external Quality Management System auditing experience

  • Domain knowledge in analytical chemistry, working knowledge of Minitab and VDA 6.3 Process Auditing Experience is desirable.

    The UK manufacturing site is based in Berkshire with occasional national and international travel.
