Sales & Service Engineer - Mechanical Seals

White Label Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a well-established engineering company, who are now looking to take on a Sales Engineer with hands on experience for their Mechanical Seals division. This is a hybrid role combining hands-on technical work with proactive business development and account management.

They will also consider training someone up in sales who is looking to progress from hand-on/engineer roles looking to transition into sales

Overview
The position is ideal for someone with experience in mechanical seals and rotating equipment who enjoys both practical, hands-on work and customer-facing sales. You’ll be responsible for identifying new business, managing key accounts, and taking full ownership of the sales cycle—from initial consultation to seal installation and after-sales support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell a comprehensive range of sealing solutions: mechanical seals, hydraulic seals, packings, gaskets, and coatings.

  • Balance your time between account management (40%) and business development (60%).

  • Identify, prospect, and convert new leads into long-term customers.

  • The managing of current accounts may someone involve carrying out hands-on work, including:

    • Assessing pump or seal failures on-site.

    • Physically removing failed components, conducting detailed analysis, identifying damage or failure causes, and recommending replacements.

    • Producing technical failure analysis and reports for clients.

    • Re-installing or overseeing installation of sealing solutions, if necessary

  • Maintain and grow relationships with an existing customer base across various sectors, including power, petrochemical, water, pulp and paper, and steel.

  • Liaise with clients at all levels, from engineers to board-level decision-makers.

  • Support and coach colleagues on quoting and sales processes.

  • Generate and deliver monthly reports on sales performance, market conditions, and forecasts.

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery.



Personal Profile (Desirable Skills & Qualities)

* Sales experience ideally, with strong technical acumen; ability to build rapport with customers.

* Experience in a similar role or from companies specialising in Mech Seals would be advantageous.

* Mechanical/engineering background essential – ideally with rotating equipment or mechanical seals.

* Comfortable with practical, hands-on tasks as well as commercial discussions.

* Strong business development and prospecting abilities.

* Capable of analysing technical failures and creating actionable, client-focused reports.

* Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

* Able to work independently, manage own schedule, and meet deadlines.

* Confident using Microsoft Office and general IT systems.

* Full UK driving licence (or equivalent).
