Role: Quality Engineer                      

Location: Leighton Buzzard

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

This market leading FMCG company is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their business in Leighton Buzzard.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Local Functions, APQP Manager, and other Sites in an efficient and effective manner, and proactively seek out best practices and process innovations.
Lead & coordinate problem solving activities, to ensure actions are taken in a timely manner, while assessing corrective actions for effectiveness. Support communication with use of defined tools e.g. plan, do, check, act, Ishikawa, 5-why, 8D etc.
Understand customer needs, specification & expectations as defined by Customer technical Services.
Ensure all product specifications are clearly understood.
Support the continual improvement of processes & products to ensure Customer Requirements are met.
Quality Control Planning by ensuring all main product families have dedicated control plans. Where appropriate, ensure alignment with other site quality control plans. Train and ensure the QC-plans are well understood and implemented. Collaborate with APQP to ensure Control Plans are accurately reflecting current process.
Ensure the facility remains connected with ECRs impacting the products & processes connected with the site. Lead & work within teams to ensure successful completion of changes.
Product Introduction: Work closely with APQP to ensure the effective handover into the local site. Ensure quality systems and controls relating to the new product & process are defined and effective. Support the completion of qualification of new equipment & process SAT approval. Always maintain a right-first-time mindset.
Ensure the facility is equipped with the necessary equipment to support all daily metrology needs. Ensure future new requirements are clear and known.
Maintain a very close connection to Group Metrology to ensure Group processes and procedures are followed and respected.
Ensure daily routine measurements are well defined and effective, and communicated to production.
Progress with the MAS project based on product priority & risk.
Completion of calibration.
Support with Internal Audits, Validations, pFMEA, Metrology, Document Control, Deviation Control.
Conduct a structured approach to situations so that steps and actions are clear for all interested parties, e.g. plan, do, check, act.

Requirements:

Knowledge of QMS requirements
Knowledge of Quality disciplines including Costs of Quality, Quality Monitoring, Quality tools & techniques, and Statistical analysis.
Good experience in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
Demonstrate the highest commitment to integrity and showing respect for, and value of, all individuals for their diverse backgrounds, experiences, styles, approaches and ideas.
Ability to accomplishing work objectives and deliver business results, by setting high standards of performance for yourself and others. 
Strong organizational skills, ability to define, delineate roles and responsibilities effectively; plan well, flexible and able to facilitate change, optimize quality and productivity as projects progress.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally within a team, with strong communication skills towards internal and external parties.
Practical skills in performing internal / external audits.
Any other qualifications towards relevant areas e.g. Six-Sigma, Auditing, Problem Solving, Change Management etc.
