We are looking for a Manual Turner Machinist to join us at the Kurt J. Lesker Company at our European headquarters based in St. Leonards, East Sussex.

The fixed working pattern for this position is Monday – Thursday 08.00am – 5.00pm and Friday 08.00am – 14.30pm

Key Job Elements:

  • Perform basic machining operations on lathes, mills, and various other manual machine shop equipment.

  • Ability to efficiently manage machining process time.

  • Use, clean, maintain and properly store tooling and equipment.

  • Ability to turn open tolerances down to +/-0.50mm.

  • Ability to mill open tolerances down to +/-0.50mm.

  • Can machine bar, plate, and some tubing.

  • Ability to machine all standard metals/polymers (st/st, Mu, aluminium, copper, nylon etc)

  • Ability to record dimensions created while machining.

  • Ability to turn large diameters up to Ø850mm.

  • Position and secure parts and fabrications to meet drawing requirements, using straight edges, squares, angle plates, blocks, clamps.

  • Working/Advanced knowledge of technical drawings including welding symbols used to manufacture simple fabrications and/or surface finishes used to manufacture complex parts.

  • Basic/Advanced understanding of measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, rules, feeler gauges, height gauges, and slip gauges.

  • Basic interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.

  • Entering time through shop floor control

  • At all times promote and maintain a Safe and Clean Work environment

  • Produce quality parts within a timely manner

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities (CI’s)

  • Safe use of overhead cranes

  • Other Duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
    Required

  • ONC/HNC (Mechanical, Manufacturing Technology or Industrial Technology) or equivalent experience in a related field

  • Basic understanding of mathematics, and the ability to read mechanical drawings.
