Are you a passionate Mechanical Engineer looking to make a real impact by giving a voice to those without speech Smartbox is looking for a dedicated individual like you to join our team and contribute to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.

Your Impact:

As our Mechanical Engineer, you will:

Working with product designers, Experts, and Customers to deliver our life-changing range of medical-grade tablet computers and accessories in collaboration with a cross-functioning team and our ODM partners.
Handling complex CAD assemblies of tablet computers, accessories, and other medical products.
Creating and managing BOMs as well as Producing design drawings to BS8888 standard (or equivalent).
Designing for manufacturing targeting Injection Moulding, CNC Machining, Casting, Stamping, 3D Printing, and Powder metallurgy.
Executing supplier and process qualifications, capability studies, DOE's and PFMEA's. 
Specifying, evaluating, defining, and selecting key components.
Expanding and cultivating our relationships with ODMs, key technology vendors and partners.
Verifying product structure for Drop, Shock, and Vibration, and Accelerated life testing.
Ensuring safety and performance fulfilling international standards. 
Travelling both domestically and internationally to collaborate with suppliers and customers.

Essential Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

Passionate about changing lives with assistive technology.  
Full product development lifecycle experience, from concept through production and maintenance.
2+ years in product development (5+ years preferred).
Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred, CATIA, Siemens NX, or Autodesk Inventor).
High-level mechanical engineering capability, particularly in design for manufacturing.
Strong interpersonal skills with enthusiasm for collaborative work.
Drive to iterate quickly on the design to achieve industry-leading reliability.
Self-sufficient while being an effective team player.
Demonstrated passion and positive attitude.
Exceptional organization skills and systematic engineering approach.
Availability for domestic and international travel.
Experience in supplier/process qualifications, capability studies, DOE's, and PFMEA's.
Hardware prototyping abilities.
Knowledge of BS8888 technical documentation standards (or similar).
