Technical Export Sales Engineer

Taylorollinson are partnered exclusively with a well-established manufacturer specialising in high-temperature laboratory and industrial equipment, often tailored to the precise needs of clients in demanding sectors such as aerospace, materials science, ceramics, and metallurgy. With a strong focus on quality, technical expertise, and bespoke engineering, the company supports both research and production environments worldwide. Their products are distributed globally, and they maintain a close working relationship between engineering teams and their international distributor network

They are looking for a technically capable individual who can serve as a critical link between their distribution partners and their internal engineering teams.

This is not a typical commercial “salesperson” role — they are looking for someone who can engage deeply with both the technical and customer-facing aspects of the business to ensure optimal outcomes for all parties.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical understanding, relationship management skills, and the ability to support the delivery of tailored, high-quality solutions to their customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical sales support: Engage with distributors and end customers to understand their needs, propose technical solutions, and guide projects from enquiry to delivery.

  • Distributor management: Build and maintain strong relationships with their global network of distribution partners.

  • Internal liaison: Act as the bridge between distributors/customers and their engineering team, translating commercial needs into technical solutions. Prepare initial budget quotations and technical documentation.

    Ideal Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.

  • Proven experience in technical support or engineering roles, preferably within the industrial or manufacturing sector.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external partners.

  • Experience in conducting product training, demonstrations, and technical seminars is advantageous.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

How to Find Hidden Materials Science Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like IOM3, RSC & More

Materials science underpins nearly every advanced technology in the modern world—from semiconductors and aerospace composites to sustainable packaging, medical implants, and energy storage. The UK’s materials sector is vast, multidisciplinary, and constantly evolving. But here’s the catch: many of the best materials science jobs are never publicly advertised. Instead, roles are filled through research partnerships, member-only networks, technical working groups, and specialist communities. If you’re relying solely on job boards, you could be missing out on career-defining opportunities. In this guide, we’ll show you how to access hidden materials science jobs in the UK by using professional bodies like IOM3, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Royal Society, IoP, and other specialist organisations. You’ll learn how to use membership directories, CPD events, and technical groups to connect with employers and unlock opportunities before they go public.

How to Get a Better Materials Science Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Redundancy can be disorienting—especially in materials science, where many roles are tied to long R&D cycles, research grants, or industrial projects that suddenly change course. But materials scientists are essential to innovation across sectors like aerospace, energy, automotive, defence, and healthcare. If you've recently been made redundant, this guide will help you regain momentum, sharpen your focus, and re-enter the UK materials science job market with clarity and confidence.

Materials Science Jobs Salary Calculator 2025: Find Out What You Should Earn in the UK

Ask a Composite Engineer tweaking lay‑up schedules for wind‑turbine blades, a Metallurgist chasing micro‑segregation defects in aerospace alloys, or a Battery Materials Scientist battling dendrite growth at 2 a.m.: “Am I earning what I deserve?” The truthful answer mutates every quarter. Gigafactories spring up in the North‑East, novel bio‑derived polymers attract life‑cycle regulations, hydrogen pipelines demand exotic coatings, & a single grant announcement from UK Research & Innovation reshapes hiring budgets nationwide. Any PDF salary guide printed in 2024 is now a fossil—unaware of the Inflation Reduction Act‑fuelled supply‑chain race, the Bristol composites boom, or the MoD’s fresh titanium powder contracts. To replace guesswork with evidence, MaterialsScienceJobs.co.uk has distilled a transparent, three‑factor formula. Feed in your discipline, your UK region, & your seniority; out pops a realistic 2025 salary benchmark. No stale averages, no vague “competitive” ranges. Over the next few minutes you’ll learn how the formula works, why materials‑science pay is rising faster than steel prices, and which immediate actions boost your market value.
